GROUP SHORT TERM DISABILITY
Please Note: If it is outside of the open enrollment period you must enroll in the insurance within 30 days of associate activation for guaranteed issue of the group insurance policy.
Short-term disability insurance is a plan designed to help with the financial stressors that can arise when an injury negatively impacts your ability to work temporarily. This program is an excellent benefit for support staff.
ELIGIBILITY
All BenefitLink associates and their staff who work 30 or more hours per week can participate. The benefit level qualification is based on 60% of your gross income.
Associate Responsibility & Eligibility Notice:
It is the responsibility of each enrolled associate to notify ASP Benefits in writing via email of any employment or status change, including retirement, reduction in eligible work hours, or termination. Failure to provide proper notification may impact benefit eligibility, and premiums will not be refunded for any period in which the associate was no longer eligible but did not notify ASP Benefits as required.
To help set clear expectations, ASP Benefits’ disability plans include important guidelines regarding pre-existing conditions. Coverage may still be available during Guaranteed Issue/Open Enrollment periods without Evidence of Insurability, but pre-existing condition limitations may still apply based on the policy terms.
Short-Term Disability coverage may not pay benefits for a disability caused by a pre-existing condition if the condition was treated, diagnosed, consulted, or prescribed medication during the policy’s specified look-back period prior to your effective date of coverage, as outlined in the Lincoln Financial policy. Coverage during Open Enrollment does not waive pre-existing condition limitations. If a disability claim is related to a pre-existing condition, Lincoln Financial will review medical history and policy provisions before determining eligibility.

- Benefits include pregnancy. If pregnant at the time of enrollment, benefits for pregnancy-related claims may be limited or not available.

- All associates will need to review their current coverage and update their income annually by filling out the update form on the ASP website.
- Prior to choosing an income level you must have the qualifying income to secure the benefit amount. The $250 weekly benefit you need a minimum of $410 weekly; $500 needs $733 weekly; and $1000 needs a minimum of $1667 weekly.
